Kitchen 20

back

This project was born from a single conversation. Sometimes hearing a client once is enough for the direction to become completely clear.

Art deco is a language of abundance: geometry, noble materials, a sense of theatre. At the same time, there was a counterpoint — a limited budget. The work begins at this very intersection: to preserve the character of the style without adopting its full price. It is less a question of money than of decisions.

A separate story is the shelf above the sink. It is a unique meeting of art deco and contemporary style, and the metal frame here is not a compromise, but a deliberate move: a way to avoid filling the space with solid cabinets and allow the kitchen to breathe. Mirrored panels and glass shelves make a large structure feel almost weightless, and the lighting switches on via a motion sensor. At times a single detail sets the tone of lightness for the entire kitchen.

The clients chose the wall paint and floor tiles themselves, and this did not harm the integrity of the project. My responsibility was the essentials: the backsplash tiles, the enamel colour of the fronts, the appliances, the handles — the details that hold the entire composition together. I am grateful to the clients for their trust.
